Come and See!

It’s been a long time since I’ve written… I have to admit that I am sad I never wrote about our journey to the bottom of the Grand Canyon in November (2025). It was epic and maybe at some point I’ll go back to that.
But today, it’s time to come back to my blog. Last October, I agreed to lead our Women’s Retreat at our church. In the months of preparation that followed, God did a work in my heart that has filled me with so much gratitude. He is teaching me to find wonder and awe, to see Him, in the most unexpected places.
I lost my way for a while with the blog… I thought it needed to be clever, have some important life lesson… I don't really know what I thought… but one thing has become clear, my heart is full of a new wonder for God.
As I prepared for the retreat, one of the stories I referred to was the Woman at the Well, John 4. Her story has always touched my heart in deep places. But since the retreat, her invitation to come and see has become a heartbeat for me.
When Jesus met her, her life was a mess… I’m sure like my own, when I met Jesus, her mess was a mixture of other people’s choices and her own choices. The reason for our messes are rarely cut and dry. But whatever the cause, she was alone and steeped in shame. She had big walls around her heart.
But that day, Jesus met her right where she was. He didn’t shame her or condemn her, He simply invited her to Himself, the spring of Living Water that wells up to eternal life, THE One that would never leave her thirsty again.
The word that comes to mind next is wonder… She left her water jug and went back to the people she had been avoiding and said, “Come and see a man who told me everything I ever did. Could this be the Messiah?” In the end, many of the people said to her, “We no longer believe just because of what you said; now we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this man really is the Savior of the world.”
THAT is the simple invitation of this blog… Come and see. Come and see the wonder of who He is… and be reminded… THIS is who loves YOU beyond your wildest imagination.
Psalm 111:2-4 (New Living Translation) says, “How amazing are the deeds of the LORD! All who delight in Him should ponder them. Everything He does reveals His glory and majesty. His righteousness never fails. He causes us to remember His wonderful works. How gracious and merciful is our LORD!”
“Everything He does reveals His glory and majesty.” The NLT is the only translation I can find that adds the word everything… but one thing I have been learning is that ‘everything’ belongs here… because He is the Creator, EVERYTHING reveals His glory and majesty… a flower bud… a bloom… the Grand Canyon… His Word… His love and His holiness… EVERYTHING!
It’s a little scary to put this out here, but my goal is to write 2-3 times a month… you can hold me accountable if you'd like! And like I said from the start, back in 2024, my goal is not numbers or followers. I’m simply hoping someone might come and see God with fresh eyes… but that’s all up to Him!
With Joy In Him,
Sharla
